The Oaklands Hotel

The launch of their Holiday Lodges

The brief was to create a 'Wow' factor for the guests at the launch of the boutique holiday lodges that are in the grounds of The Oaklands Hotel in Norwich.

Oaklands Hotel river 3As the Lodges were named after local rivers and broads, we suggested that a Broadland theme should be created.

So we built a 'set', where, as the guests entered the marquee from the hotel, they walked through a 'reed bed' into a Broadland scene.

A running river 15m long was built, with a bridge connecting one side of the marquee to the other, with trees, 'reeds', grasses and ivies, decorating the sides of the river, with ferns and ivies tumbling into the water as it raced under the bridge, 'babbling' over the rocks and stones.

Oaklands Hotel river 2The 'broads' at either end, had islands of grasses and even misters to create a further mystical effect.

A 'Wow' factor was demanded.

The client,  Ms Abi Edmond, the commissioning director of Distinct Hotels, said afterwards "We asked Ridyards to come up with some ideas for the launch evening of theOaklands Hotel river 3 holiday lodges. They proposed a water theme, which went very well with our geographic location, in the Yare River Valley, and the names of the lodges.  Initially we were a little apprehensive about the concept, as it involved creating a river within our marquee.  However, we need not have worried, Ridyards exceeded our expectations, it was, and still is, the talking point of the evening.  The 'Wow' factor was produced, and I would like to thank Jonathan and his team for producing such an event, we really appreciated the thought, effort and care that they brought to the occasion."
